The Pastel Society of Ireland was set up to promote and encourage the art and practice of pastel painting throughout Ireland.
The pastel society was formed in 1988 by a group of dedicated pastel painting artists in Belfast. The society now has 120 members throughout Ireland. Associate Membership of the society is open to anyone who has an interest in pastel painting. Full membership of the Society is determined by a panel chosen by the Committee and elections are based on a selection of the candidates pastel work. The Pastel Society has a varied programme of events and activities including Annual and Members Exhibitions, painting workshops, outdoor painting weekend outings and masterclasses. The Pastel Societies website also contains a blog to keep members and others up to date with news and events.
