The Undertones Are Legends

The third annual Oh Yeah Legends award, recognising major contributions to the NI music scene

The ‘Legends’ award idea came together in 2008, when the Oh Yeah music centre chose to recognise our greatest musical achievers. The first inductee was Terri Hooley, boss of the Good Vibrations record label, who released ‘Teenage Kicks’ by The Undertones in 1978.

The presentation was led by Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol and delivered during the Fate Awards at the Waterfront Hall. The following year and Henry McCullough (guitarist with Paul McCartney and Wings, Joe Cocker, Marianne Faithful) was recognised at a special gig in the Oh Yeah building.

This year, the inductees will be The Undertones, who have delivered so many ageless pop songs, and who have staged an impressive comeback in recent years, releasing two excellent new albums. The award and live performance will take place at Oh Yeah, in the centre of the Belfast Music Exhibition, featuring a host of musical memorabilia from Northern Ireland.

The 'Oh Yeah Legends' night with The Undertones, DJ Terri Hooley, plus special guests is on Friday 17 September at 8pm, at the Oh Yeah Centre.

Tickets are £10, available to buy online here. For more details visit www.ohyeahbelfast.com.
