Belfast Pride Parade 2012
Christians Enjoying Gay Pride and other revelers line the streets in Belfast to cheer on the floats and performers
The 2012 Belfast Pride Parade was a predictably eclectic, colourful event in central Belfast on Saturday, August 4, with hundreds of performers and thousands of spectators lining the streets in support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community across Northern Ireland.
Kicking off from Custom House Square, the parade wound its way around City Hall and back, and featured musicians, dancers, drummers, and representatives from LGBT awareness groups and gay-friendly venues. People of all ages came draped in the rainbow flag – a universal symbol of acceptance, diversity and tolerance.
Traditionally marred by anti-gay protests, the 2012 Pride Parade went off without incident. In the video below, representatives from Christians Enjoying Gay Pride, and other members of the public, give their opinions of the annual event.
