After the highs of London 2012, it was back to earth with a cheer and a collective pat on the back for Northern Ireland's homegrown Olympic medallists.
Belfast boxers Paddy Barnes and Michael Conlon – who both came away from London with bronze medals, in the light-flyweight and flyweight divisions respectively – enjoyed the sunshine, and the company of Deputy Lord Mayor, Tierna Cunningham, during their open-topped bus tour of the city.
Coleraine rowers Richard and Peter Chambers – who took silver in the lightweight fours – and bronze medal-winning Alan Campbell (single sculls) braved the rain back home to sign autographs and talk to the press following their remarkable collective success at the Eton Dorney course.
