Call for entries to the first Northern Ireland Short Film Awards
You won't need to have been involved in a feature-length production for the chance to have your talent be recognised at 'The Nordies' this July
From Dance, Lexi, Dance and The Shore to Boogaloo and Graham, Northern Ireland has punched well above its weight over the years when it comes to producing staggering short films.
Now, after achieving success for so long on an international level, the wealth of talent that exists locally will be celebrated for the first time on home soil with filmmakers invited to submit their works to the inaugural Northern Ireland Short Film Awards held this July.
Facilitated by local producer Julie Gardner, founder of Lacada Entertainment, the 'Nordies' are open to everyone across Northern Ireland, whether a professional or a student of the craft, and will offer recognition across a wide spectrum of categories.
As well as awards for the best films submitted across an assortment of formats, there will be individual honours for directors, actors and specific elements of production from Animation anf Costume Design to Editing and Music.
'It's about time we got together to celebrate this success, meet with like-minded filmmakers and talent scouts as well as have a fun night out.'
The ceremony on Thursday July 26 and after party should also provide the opportunity to network with industry professionals or even discover artists emerging in the field's many disciplines. Tickets are to go on sale once nominations have been announced in June, and can be purchased by anyone, not just those entering.
According to information from the organisers, judging 'will be carried out by renowned international professional filmmaking talent, and the only benchmark for judging is quality.'
While the earlybird deadline for entries passed in January, those submitted before April 4 will have a £15 entry fee, while those who may need longer can pay £20 to enter by May 25.
An information pack embedded above contains the full list of award categories, as well as rules for entry. Entries can be submitted through this online form.
