Halloween Festivities to be Streamed Live from Derry
City's world famous carnival can be watched from anywhere online this weekend
Tens of thousands are expected to line the streets of Derry this Saturday for the Rise of the River Gods parade, following hot on the heels of the city being named best Halloween destination on earth.
Those who can't make the world-beating carnival have nothing to fear however with the event now scheduled to be broadcast in full live via the district council's website from 7pm-8pm GMT.
Whether they're in Sleepy Hollow or Salem, residents of runner-up locations in the recent USA Today poll will be able to get an eyeful of how the Maiden City has marked the occasion for the past 30 years.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District, Councillor Elisha McCallion said: 'Our annual carnival has gone from strength to strength and I'm thrilled that the Council is providing a live stream to capture all of its atmosphere for those who can't be here.
'Not only will thousands from far flung places be with us in spirit but it also means people in our own local communities who, due to mobility or health reasons, may not be able to come to the parade, can view it from the comfort of their own homes.'
The Rise of the River Gods parade will depart from Queen’s Quay car park at 7pm,- making its way across Boating Club Lane and up Strand Road towards Harbour Roundabout, before travelling down Queen’s Quay to the Council offices. The celebration will then culminate with a traditional Fireworks Finale over the River Foyle at 8pm.
