Ash Release Video for New Single 'Cocoon'

They pick their moments, those Downpatrick boys – listen to 'Cocoon', the super-charged, super catchy new single from Ash, released – you guessed it – on Ash Wedneday

The last we heard of any of the three Ash members was from frontman and chief songwriter Tim Wheeler, who released his debut solo record, Lost Domain, in 2014, an incredibly frank, emotional testiment to his father's struggle with dementia.

The band's last studio album, Twilight of the Innocents, came out way back in 2007, and thereafter Ash have only released singles – 26 of them, to be precise – as part of the A-Z series, a purely digital project running from 2009 to 2010.

But Ash Wednesday, 2015 arrived with a bang for fans of the band, with the unveiling of a typically catchy new track, 'Cocoon', as a precursor to their forthcoming album, Kablammo!, due out later in the year and available to pre-order now from the Pledge Music website.

'It’s Ash at their frenetic best, a wall of guitars and a shot of adrenaline with a sweet melodic chaser,' said drummer, Rick McMurray. 'One of the earliest songs written for the forthcoming album, you can hear how excited the three of us are to be back in the same room. Having this much fun crammed into two and a half minutes is probably illegal.'

The band also revealed an upcoming Belfast tour date in the Limelight on June 8. Book your tickets now.
