City of Derry Guitar Festival
Applications are now open for all courses as artists from around the world tune up for a week in Derry~Londonderry
The 12th City of Derry Guitar Festival will takes place August 21 – 24 in the state-of-the-art facilities of the North West Regional College in Derry~Londonderry, and applications are now officially open for all courses.
The festival offers guitar lovers three days of intense guitar therapy in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. This year's programme will see Carlos Bonell making a welcome return for the classical guitar course, where he will be teaching alongside Thibault Cauvin and Manus Noble.
John Walsh will be offering a full immersion in the culture and sounds of flamenco, while rock heads can turn their amps up to the sound of the Rory Gallagher Riffs Library electric guitar course. Acoustic guitarists are in for a real treat as the legendary Gordon Giltrap will hold a three-day course and solo performance.
And for those who are just starting, this year for the first time the festival will be offering a beginners ukulele course. Applications from guitarists of all standards are welcome, and applicants can download an application form on the City of Derry Guitar Festival website.
Course fees range from £120 non-residential to £255 residential for a full week end of classes. Concert tickets cost £12, £10 concession and £6 for students.
