Listen to a Preview Track from Nick Boyle's New Musical

The Jazzabelles is a rags to riches tale from the Wireless Mystery Theatre music director set in 1950s Belfast

Belfast composer Nicholas Boyle has written and arranged music for almost every Wireless Mystery Theatre production, from last year's ambitious Brief Encounter to the audio-theatre company's popular rendition of A Christmas Carol.

Not to be confused with an all-female, American big band-style ensemble of the same name, The Jazzabelles is an original new musical which Boyle describes as 'the story of three women trying to break out of the mundane and into sweet syncopated fame'.

'It's punchy, funny, snappy and sincere,' he says, 'with swinging tunes, top vocal talent, big harmonies, and a live band.'

Those big, three-part harmonies are provided by Belfast actress/vocalists Claire McCartney, Samantha McMillan, Beccy Henderson. Listen below to a live recording of the trio ahead of a free-to-attend rehearsed reading tonight at the South Bank Playhouse.

Meanwhile Wireless Mystery Theatre present An Evening of Irish Horror tonight at the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast, as commissioned by The Dracula Society. For more information and tickets visit the Crescent Arts Centre website.
