Ricky Gervais Announced for Belfast Waterfront

Headline-making comic and creator of The Office marks his return to stand-up with new live show 'Humanity' in March 2017

Ricky Gervais is to bring his brand new live show Humanity to Belfast’s Waterfront across two consecutive nights in March 2017.

Having received the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy 2016 BAFTA/LA, the creator and star of seminal comedy series The Office is returning to stage with his first stand-up tour since Science in 2010.

2016 has been a busy year for Gervais, with the cinematic and DVD release of David Brent: Life On The Road and its accompanying soundtrack album, the launch of Special Correspondents on Netflix as well as the publication of the David Brent Songbook and the hosting of the Golden Globes for a fourth time.

Recently he has been road-testing material for the upcoming tour with audiences in small, intimate venues. He has in the past spoken about the difficulty for someone of his profile putting together a new routine under the media spotlight.

With other works including the acclaimed series Extras, Derek and numerous feature-length films, the controversial comic has earned three Golden Globes, two Primetime Emmy Awards and seven BAFTA’s.

His original BBC production of the The Office is the most successful British comedy of all time, shown in more than 90 countries with seven remakes including the long-running US version.

To date, Gervais has had four tours as a stand-up comedian. His 2007 show Fame became the fastest selling UK stand-up show in history with 100,000 tickets for his London shows sold in nine minutes.

Tickets for his back-to-back performances at the Belfast Waterfront on March 27 and 28 go on sale from 10am, Friday December 2. Available to book online at www.waterfront.co.uk, by phone 028 9033 4455 or in person at the Ulster Hall box office.
