School Dinners Photo Competition

Belfast Photo Festival: Youth Edition seeks entries from young photographers for Ulster Museum show

Calling young people of all ages across Northern Ireland – the Belfast Photo Festival: Youth Edition, the first ever young person's photo festival in Europe, is looking for photographs of your school dinners/packed lunches.

Entrants will have the opportunity to win one of three prizes and be exhibited in the prestigious Ulster Museum as part of the headlining Belfast Photo Festival: Youth Edition exhibition by Martha Payne, the award-winning young photographer and author of the Never Seconds blog.

Payne will be showing her own celebrated and wildly diverse collection of school dinner photographs during the festival, and there will be plenty of room for School Dinners Photo Competition entrants to exhibit their culinary art works there too.

The Belfast Photo Festival: Youth Edition takes place in venues across the city from April 3 – 30, and builds on and complements the existing work through the International Belfast Photo Festival, running programmed events throughout April 2014 and coinciding with the school Easter Holidays.

By providing innovative photography-based workshop opportunities and age specific events catered for young people aged 4-18, the festival aims to encourage participation within the local community, utilizing the selected use of new technological innovations.

Submissions to the School Dinners Photo Competition must be received by April 13. Entrants should email their photos, name, age and school to schooldinners@belfastphotofestival.com. First prize is a Sony compact camera; second prize is a 30 x 20" canvas worth £65; and third prize 30 minute studio session and three enlargements.
