Video: Beyond the Walls Photography Exhibition

Watch video from the City Factory as featured war photographer Emmanuel Oritz visits Derry~Londonderry

The Beyond the Walls photography exhibition at the City Factory, Derry~Londonderry comprises three strands: a new selection of work from the Picturing Derry exhibition; Broken Lights of Yugoslavia, by Argentinian photographer Emmanuel Ortiz; and Beyond the Walls photographs by German photographer Kai Wiedenhofer, taken in Palestine and other places where walls have been erected to separate communities.

The exhibition 'brings together war photography from conflict areas', according to co-curator Declan Sheehan, and is a partnership between the Nerve Centre and the Culture Company's BT Portrait of a City project. It follows the first instalment of the critically acclaimed Picturing Derry photography exhibition in the same venue, which concluded mid-July 2013.

In the video above, Emmanuel Ortiz visits the exhibition to discuss his featured photographs, and recalls his time documenting the Croatian War in 1991. The video also features curator of War Photography Ltd in Dubrovnik, Wade Goddard. Beyond the Walls continues in the City Factory until August 25.
