Festival Information

The Bard of Armagh Festival of Humorous Verse has been in existence since 1993. It has grown from a small community event to something of a national institution.                                                                                               
Unique in its nature it breaks down all social, political, religious, age and gender barriers. It has activated and energised versifiers not only in these islands but in the continents of Africa, America and Australia. For many people the Bard is the highlight of the year.                                                                           

The Bard of Armagh Competition creates a platform for versifiers to unleash their creative energies to a packed and appreciative audience of 1,000. The competition provides an alternative form of entertainment to the sometimes shallow, passive and contrived art forms of today.
