Celebrate St Patrick’s Day 2018 with an action packed weekend of activities for all the family. The two day festival will be a celebration of Music, Food and Culture and include a number of key events throughout the city.

St Patrick’s Day Spring Carnival Parade – Departs Bishop Street @ 2pm

As the dark skies of winter fall away, Derry will welcome the spring with open arms in a cacophony of colour and spectacle.

Come join the carnival parade of dancing daffodils, busy bees and slithering snakes as local communities take to the streets in a celebration of Spring.

In ancient times, many festivals  celebrated Spring goddesses associated with flowering, growth and the fertility of the land including Celtic goddess Brigit and Hindu Goddess Bhramari  ‘the goddess of the bees.’  Brigit and Bhramari will snake their way through the city’s streets along with a host of characters representing Spring and will be joined by Saint Patrick completing the circle.

This year will see pageant pieces from North West Carnival, Greater Shantallow Community Arts, In Your Space and Bluebell Arts and involve over 600 participants from local schools, youth clubs and arts and cultural organisations.

Taking place across the same weekend as part of the Spring Carnival programme is the Legenderry Food Festival and the Ubuntu Global Festival. For full details on what to expect from each this year visit the below links.
