Blue Remembered Hills

Bruiser Theatre Company celebrate 10th anniversary with Potter classic

Bruiser continues its 10th anniversary year this autumn with Dennis Potter’s acclaimed modern classic, Blue Remembered Hills. The play focuses on the events of one summer afternoon in 1943 as a group of seven-year-olds adopt the hills and woodland of rural England as their playground - a haven for exploration, speculation and wonder.

The end of the war is two years away, but when you’re seven, two years may as well be a lifetime. Childhood loyalty and friendships are explored with all the laughter and cruelty that children are capable of, but a single tragic event changes their world forever.

In Bruiser's production of Blue Remembered Hills the cast is made up of adult actors. The result is at times funny, chilling, honest and moving in Dennis Potter’s acclaimed story of lost innocence.

Cast member Angela Waller returns to Bruiser for the first time since 1997, when she appeared in the company’s first production.

'I’m delighted to be back in Belfast and working with Bruiser again. This is a play that both entertains and shocks – definitely not to be missed.'

Blue Remembered Hills opens at The Old Museum Arts Centre, Belfast, September 18, before embarking on an Irish tour.
