Belfast Waterfront Hall
The concert hall and conference centre is a landmark of riverside urban redevelopment
Opened in 1997, this concert hall and conference centre by Robinson and McIlwaine, is the architectural centrepiece of the Lanyon Place redevelopment site, near the river Lagan.
The main ‘drum’ of the brick and Portland stone cylindrical structure comprises an auditorium and offices, with bar and restaurant levels contained in a glass ‘offshoot’ overlooking the old and new law court buildings on Oxford Street. The shallow green dome of the central structure alludes to that of City Hall, further up Chichester Street, and is a dramatic postmodern addition to the city’s skyline.
