Radio Ulster and RTE to Broadcast Belfast Music Week
Across the Line and 2FM join forces for a cross-border broadcast on Monday, November 5
Long running BBC Radio Ulster unsigned music champions Across the Line will join forces with RTE 2FM’s new music guru Dan Hegarty to bring Belfast Music Week 2012 to both sides of the border with a two hour special, to be broadcast on both radio stations on the evening of Monday, November 5 at 8pm.
Both RTE 2FM and BBC Radio Ulster have helped to break emerging Irish music talent, from Snow Patrol to Two Door Cinema Club, and both shows hope to unearth some brand new musical gems over the course of the week long music event around the city.
Presenters Rigsy and Hegarty will broadcast live from BBC Radio Ulster’s studios between 8 and 10pm, highlighting many of their top picks from the hundreds of bands playing live shows around Belfast and discussing their tips for the year ahead.
Belfast Music Week 2012 will feature more than 250 events in 70 venues across the city. It is a dramatic increase in activity for the third year of this event, which takes place November 4-11. View the full programme.
There will be live music in a rich variety of places, including iconic venues such as the Ulster Hall, The Lyric Theatre and The MAC. There will also be unique moments at Europa Bus Station, Connswater Shopping Centre, HMV record shop, Cultúrlann and the Palm House in Botanic Gardens.
Belfast City Council’s Belfast Music Week is co-ordinated by the Oh Yeah Music Centre and supported by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Tourism Ireland.
