Armagh County Museum
Collections include ceramics, costume, military material, and household items from a bygone age
Armagh County Museum is located on the Mall, near the centre of the city of Armagh, and has been open to the public since the 1930s.
The collections and permanent exhibition reflect the lives of those people who have lived in, worked in or been associated with the county. Archaeological artefacts are displayed alongside ceramics, costume, military material, folk life and household items from a bygone age. The museum also boasts an impressive art collection and has an extensive reference library.
In addition to the permanent displays, there is a temporary exhibition programme. In any year these may range from paintings by the local art club to touring exhibitions from other institutions. Another feature of the museum’s work has been to include displays designed around topics covered in the primary school curriculum.
The museum welcomes enquiries about the material collections or local history archives. To take a virtual tour of Armagh County Museum or see listings of events and exhibitions, please visit the museum's website (see external link below).
