Specialises in designing and making large-scale ceramic and brick sculptural features
Eleanor Wheeler specialises in designing and making large-scale ceramic and brick sculptural features for architecture, public places and gardens. The majority of this work is site-specific and is often designed in liaison with commissioning clients. In 2004 she was also involved in the Cultivating Creativity project in Co Down.
Work has been commissioned by local councils, education authorities and library boards, museums, national charities and private clients. Wheeler has also been involved with numerous community groups and organisations, giving individuals the opportunity to develop skills, enhance their environment and be part of the creation of large-scale, permanent art works.
The nature of the material lends itself to the creation of work in two and three dimensions, which enables colour and sculptural form to be permanently integrated into the fabric of the built environment. The nature of the work in terms of scale, function or design evolves in direct response to the environment, local community and history of the site.
