Become One of the FAMLA with Tinderbox Crowdfunder

Theatre company offers rewards ranging from a day behind the scenes to co-producer credits for backers of its latest drama

One of Northern Ireland’s leading arts organisations, Tinderbox Theatre Company, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help bring its latest production to the stage.

FAMLA is a dark comedy by acclaimed writer John McCann, which sees long buried family secrets unearthed. Rhodri Lewis, Hayley McQuillan and Tara Lynne O’Neill star as three lost souls in search of salvation.

'Haunting, hilarious and heartbreaking, FAMLA challenges the stories we tell ourselves to hide the truth of who we really are,' reads the synopsis.

The play is set to premiere at the MAC from March 21 to 25, followed by a week-long tour with performances at Cushendall Golf Club, Craic Theatre, Coalisland, the Playhouse, Derry~Londonderry and the Market Place Theatre, Armagh.

Having developed and presented some of the best in new writing over the past 25 years, Tinderbox is asking theatre enthusiasts to support its latest project and celebrate the work of local creative talent and reach new audiences across Northern Ireland. The campaign is already over halfway towards reaching its £4,000 target.

Artistic Director Patrick J O’Reilly said: 'While the primary objective is fundraising for the company, it nevertheless gives people the opportunity to feel a sense of ownership of Tinderbox and its productions. Our crowdfunding campaign offers a range of options, from a simple thank you and a big warm glow of happiness at £5, signed posters at £30 and a bundle of previous Tinderbox scripts at £40 right up to £1,500 for a co-producer credit and £3,000 for any organisation within Northern Ireland, corporate or community, wanting their very own performance of FAMLA.

'You can go behind the scenes and spend a day in the rehearsal room with the cast for £150, but you need to act quickly to bag the best rewards as the one-off chance to meet the writer and receive his own copy of the thumbed, written on, coffee stained and signed script has already been taken!

'We’ve tried to make the crowdfunding campaign as fun as possible while at the same time stressing the urgent need to raise these funds in order to keep on developing our local creative community of actors, writers, directors, designers, musicians, stage management and technical teams. They contribute so much to both the artistic fabric and economic success of Northern Ireland which would be so much poorer without them.'

Tinderbox Theatre Company will receive all pledges made by 3:00pm on February 19 at
