Magnificent Seven for Moira Calling

Main stage acts announced for the Co. Armagh music festival which returns as a now two-day event on September 8 and 9

One of Northern Ireland's newest independent music festivals has revealed the acts scheduled to appear on its main stage later this summer.

Following its inaugural year, Moira Calling returns as a two-day event on September 8 and 9 and organisers are promising to have the idyllic Co. Armagh countryside reverberting with a raft of headliners.

Amongst the 'Magnificent Seven' are acclaimed euphoric indie folk quintet Eliza and the Bear, who top the Saturday night bill, with Flyte, Emerald Armada, Girls Names, Stomptown Brass, Brand New Friend and Franklyn completing the first wave of announcements.

With the line-up for the All the Little Lights second stage still to come, Moira Calling is shaping up to be one of the top NI music festivals of the summer.

Organiser Jillian Marsden, from Brown Lemonade, said they were thrilled to be able to present such a diverse main stage line-up, with Eliza and the Bear and Flyte both making their first appearances in Northern Ireland.

'Last year when we started this we could never have imagined being here a year later, with a full-blown music festival and a host of top acts on our hands. This is great news for Moira and for local music. We hope that this line-up proves that you don’t necessarily have to go to Belfast to find world-class entertainment. In fact, you should probably be coming to Moira! We hope these seven acts wet people’s appetites for Moira Calling, and we can’t wait to announce our second stage headliners very soon.'

As well as two stages and a feast of local beer and food produce on Saturday, September 9, early ticket buyers will also get a mystery 'Free Friday' into the bargain.

'Again, we’ve been sworn to secrecy for now,' commented Marsden previously, 'but I can say that we can promise a melodramatic Friday evening of fulsome twists and fantastic turns followed by a Saturday spent with friends and family in beautiful surroundings, with excellent music, the finest local crafted produce and a warm community welcome or as we like to call it - the Moira Calling Experience!'
