'71 Trailer Released
A young British soldier is abandoned in Troubles-era Belfast in Yann Demange's upcoming thriller scored by David Holmes
The trailer for '71, a new thriller set in Belfast during the height of the Troubles, has been released by Studio Canal and Warp Productions.
Directed by Yann Demange, and written by Scottish screenwriter Gregory Burke, the film follows a young English soldier as he attempts to find his way back to safety having been abandoned by his unit during a riot.
Starring Jack O'Connell – who recently gained acclaim for his lead role in the British prison drama Starred Up, which was incidentally shot in Belfast's Crumlin Road Goal – as the ill-fated squaddie, '71 also features Northern Irish actor Richard Dormer and Irish actress Charlie Murphy.
The film was scored by Belfast-born composer and producer David Holmes, who recently described the process of working with Demange on '71 as 'the most wonderful experience' in an interview with the Irish Times.
'71 is due for release on October 10, 2014.
