QFT Screening Room: Episode 1
Watch the first in a new series of preview films presented by Head of QFT, Susan Picken
CultureNorthernIreland has joined forces with QFT to bring audiences the best online coverage of independent cinema.
To complement QFT’s seven yearly programmes, CNI will be producing a series of preview films – presented by Head of QFT, Susan Picken – that will feature trailers of forthcoming films and information on other QFT screenings and events.
'Online cinema marketing is becoming more and more a priority for us and our colleagues throughout the industry,' Picken explains. 'QFT has really stepped up its online presence over the past year, with a fantastic new website and thriving Facebook and Twitter groups. We’re delighted to progress that work even further with our innovative new partnership with CultureNorthernIreland.'
The bite-sized preview videos will be available to view on the CNI website, as well as in the Screening Room section of the QFT website. The first in the series previews the latest QFT programme, which begins on July 23 and has a strong musical theme. ‘We are aware that audiences are turning to online video more and more for information on the arts that they love, and also to be entertained,’ said CNI web editor, Lee Henry. ‘This is, therefore, an exciting and timely new partnership, and one that will help us build on our existing video output.
‘With Susan Picken’s in-depth knowledge of art house cinema, we could not have asked for a better contributor to script and present these films. We hope that our users, as well as QFT members and lovers of cinema in general, will use them to plan their viewing schedules and learn more about independent cinema in Northern Ireland and beyond.’
The partnership will see CNI continue to run exclusive competitions in conjunction with QFT, provide up-to-date news about QFT events, film festivals, post-show panel discussions and talks, and review the best in new and classic cinema from all over the world.
