Cultural Olympiad Theatre Champions

ImagineAction launches Theatre Champions as part of the London 2012 Inspire Mark project

ImagineAction - an innovative childrens theatre and sports programme funded by the Legacy Trust UK Connections Programme which is managed by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. - launched its Theatre Champions, marking the second phase of this hugely successful London 2012 Inspire Mark project for the Cultural Olympiad.

Managed by Beam Creative Network in Northern Ireland, the ImagineAction Theatre Champions project invited young people to broaden their skills through a range of workshops that build a bridge between arts and sports. The project involved over 60 young people aged 13-16yrs, who enrolled as trainees in dance, drama and song. All the performers came from a sporting background and successfully transferred their sports skills onto the stage.

Spurred on by expert mentoring sessions from the likes of Louis Walsh, George Sampson and Shane Lynch, the Theatre Champions performed a showcase of their new-found skills at a special event on November 13 2010, in front of an invited audience and celebrity panel including Eastenders star and BBC Over the Rainbow judge, John Partridge.
