The Verbal Arts Centre

Centre promoting all aspects of the spoken and written word...

The Verbal arts Centre is an educational charity founded in 1992. Its aim is to promote and encourage all aspects of the spoken and written word and to facilitate access to the verbal arts for all the community. It does this through a wide variety of programmes, projects and events.

In 2000 the centre relocated to the beautifully refurbished First Derry School, a listed building on the city’s walls. The venue has many exciting attractions to offer the individual visitor and the tourist, from its ‘Everlasting Voices’ exhibition to the specially commissioned pieces from some of Ireland’s finest artists.
