Guildhall Press writers festival Inspired, which takes place on Saturday, March 21, is a celebration of all things literary for lovers of the written word in the Rath Mor Centre, Creggan, and the Gasyard Centre, Lecky Road in Derry.
Open to all ages, Inspired promotes, encourages and supports that burning desire and aspiration to write and get into print. There are a wide range of free activities and events to enjoy – from workshops, talks and presentations to performances, discussions and craftwork.
The programme includes contributions from actor and playwright Nuala McKeever, publishing guru and founder of Blackstaff Press Anne Tannahill, and novelist and screenwriter Glenn Patterson.
Joining them will be a host of the North West’s own literati – Clare Allan, Phil Cunningham, Jenni Doherty, Garbhan Downey, Dave Duggan, Charlie Herron, Felicity McCall, Paul McFadden, Brian McGilloway, Marilyn McLaughlin and Anita Robinson – who will share hints, tips and advice gained over many years from their own successful writing careers. With arts and craft activities for young bookworms, writing workshops of different genres, authors of diverse experience and expertise, inspiration is guaranteed.
There will also be stalls from the National Collection of Northern Ireland Publications (NIPR), the Derry Writers' Group, the Derry Playhouse Writers' Group and Moving On Writers plus a Guildhall Press information desk with Little Acorns Bookstore.
The Guildhall Press Inspired Festival is funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and in partnership with Creggan Enterprises, The Hive Studios - Digital Arts Studio, the Bluebell Arts Project, the Gasyard Development Trust and Little Acorns Bookstore.
