The celebrated festival returns to Derry with illustrator Nick Sharratt, comedian David O'Doherty and more hosting fun family events from March 23 - 28
Humdinger! makes a welcome return to Derry from March 23 – 28, 2015 in the gorgeous Guildhall, preceded by a week-long outreach programme in schools and libraries.
Now in its third year, the festival organised by Dog Ears children's media company celebrates words, stories and imagination and features some of the biggest and best-loved names in children’s books and stories.
Headlining this year’s Humdinger! festival are David O’Doherty and Chris Judge, co-creators of popular kids’ book, Danger Is Everywhere, as well as Nick Sharratt, author and illustrator of children’s favourites including A Shark in the Dark, Socks and Don’t Put Your Finger In The Jelly, Nelly!.
Friday’s performance of The Wimpy Kid Stage Show is a must for all Diary of a Wimpy Kid fans as host Alastair Watson brings the books to life with fun activities including The Wimpy Kid Draw-Along and the Wimp Wars! Quiz. The festival programme is packed with lots of fun, family-friendly and innovative events that promise to spark children’s imaginations left, right and centre.
Humdinger! aims to inspire a love of reading and an appreciation of stories and books by bringing incredible artists, stellar talent and fabulous stories to the little bookworms of our city. Children have a chance to meet their favourite authors and illustrators, listen to stories, take part in workshops, develop new skills and get their favourite books signed.
