The Black Tokens

Belfast five-piece look forward to summer dates supporting Ash

The Black Tokens are the latest of the current crop of Belfast bands to make a name for themselves in the NI music scene, and will be further cementing their place as industry contenders with a summer tour supporting NI rock maestros Ash.

A five-piece outfit, The Black Tokens have quickly developed a distinctive and instantly recognisable sound all of their own. Think pure old-school power rock, underlined by a Stranglers-esque rumbling bass sound and classic moog synth sounds.

As well as previously playing support to Milburn, My Alamo, and Halite, The Black Tokens are looking forward to a summer in the spotlight supporting Ash on their forthcoming Irish tour.

2006 saw The Black Tokens gigging extensively in the NI premier music circuit. Their relentless gigging mentality has moulded them into an extremely accomplished live band.

Recent performances at NI's ultimate unsigned showcase, belFEST ‘06, as well as a headline slot at IMRO's Showcase Tour '07 and a mini-tour of Scotland have set the Black Tokens in good stead for their summer foray.

March 2007 sees The Black Tokens release their brand new 3 track EP, now available for public consumption, available at live shows and via their official MySpace.

The Black Tokens are set to support Ash on June 4 in Dublin's Temple Bar Music Centre, June 5 in Derry's Nerve Centre and June 6 in Belfast's Spring & Airbrake.
