Duke Special and Joe Echo for Electric Picnic
More NI acts confirmed to play the Stradbally festival
Since the release of the multi platinum-selling Choice Music Prize and Meteor Music Award nominated Songs From the Deep Forest, the follow up platinum I Never Thought This Day Would Come and the hugely lauded triple release The Stage, A Book and The Silver Screen, Duke Special has toured hundreds of sold-out shows across the globe, with the vaudevillian making his return to Electric Picnic this year to perform all of his best loved songs.
Completing work on his debut album, Joe Echo (video of 'Tilly's Cowboy' above) is also confirmed for the festival, building on the success of this year's touring, writing and recording. As well as his recent appearance at Oxegen in July, Joe Echo (real name Ciaran Gribbin) has been performing shows alongside Paul McCartney, The Script, Paulo Nutini, and James Morrison amongst others. With writing stints from various artists like Paul Oakenfold to Groove Armada, Echo earned his Grammy Award nomination for the Madonna hit ‘Celebration’, which he co-wrote with Madonna and Oakenfold, which features on the diva's greatest hits collection of the same title.
The new additions to the festival join a strong Northern Irish contingent with the north coast's And So I Watch You From Afar, Derry act Japanese Popstars (live) and Co. Down lads Two Door Cinema Club, all gathering a huge international fanbase and playing alongside acts like Massive Attack, LCD Soundsystem, The National and Leftfield.
Electric Picnic takes place 3 - 5 September, 2010. Weekend camping tickets priced €240 + booking fee on sale now from Ticketmaster and outlets nationwide.
