Phil Kieran

One of Ireland’s fastest rising DJs and producers

One of Ireland’s fastest rising DJs and producers, Phil Kieran was inspired to get into dance music after spending many evenings at David Holmes's legendary Sugar Sweet club night.

Like Alan Simms, Kieran started his career by running his own club night, Sector One, at Belfast’s The Limelight, where up and coming local talent could showcase their electronic sounds. Kieran quickly acquired a residency at the now legendary Shine nightclub, and was given the chance to appear alongside big name guests, including Richie Hawtin, Umek and Justin Robertson, who last year selected two of Kieran’s own tracks for a compilation.

Kieran’s work as a musical producer has been the driving force behind his major international success over the last couple of years. As Kieran has a diverse DJing style, he also records under the aliases of Acid Ted, Plastic Pervert and Pill Hearing, and has recorded and released music in genres as diverse as breaks, electro, house and techno. Labels that have supported his work include Electrix, Mob, Eukabreaks, Trauma Industries, Bugged Out, Turtle Trax, Skint, and Kingsize, which released his massive ‘Vitalian House’. His tracks are now played by many of the big names he first played alongside at Shine.

With such exposure, it was not long before requests came in for Kieran to remix other artists including Slam, Nitzer Ebb, Agoria, Midfield General, Arthur Baker and Meat Katie. With the launch of Shine Recordings in 2003, Kieran is guaranteed to make further releases on the Belfast based label.

Keeping close to his Belfast roots, Kieran has collaborated with local producers Timmy Stewart, Richard Fox and Austin Tanney. Nevertheless, Phil Kieran has also played in China, Japan, Poland and Israel. He works regularly throughout England, Scotland and Ireland, and has played at every major festival in the UK.

Kieran’s sets cross the divides of techno, electro, breaks and house music, and on the odd occasion, he can even be heard to play some quality old skool flavas. With Phil Kieran, you can always be guaranteed a night of great music.
