Resonate Music Video Contest

Nerve Centre launch competition to find best bedroom recording, best live performance and catchiest track

During 2013, the Nerve Centre's Resonate project – in association with Blast Furnace Recording Studio – has been capturing the amazing musical talent, energy and spirit that exists in Derry~Londonderry.

Now local bands and musicians have the chance to win £1,000 worth of Henderson Music vouchers and an exclusive slot on the Resonate Album of the Year by entering the Resonate Music Video Contest. Entrants simply have to upload a YouTube or Vimeo video link to an original track.

As well as the main prize, the contest is looking for the 'best live performance', 'best bedroom recording', 'catchiest track' and 'outstanding lyrics award'. Judges include Stephen McCauley, BBC Radio Foyle's champion of new music.

Pearse Moore, chief executive of the Nerve Centre, said: 'Music videos can be professional productions or simply you playing in your bedroom. We don't mind, we just want to hear your music.'

As well as recording a wide range of musical collaborations and running pop-up studios free of charge to the public, the Resonate project has been on hand to document many of the major musical happenings of City of Culture year, from Celtronic to Culture Tech.

Ciaran Scullion, head of music at the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and one of the judges of the Resonate Music Video Contest, said: 'Resonate is one of many fantastic projects we have funded as part of the UK City of Culture 2013.

'So far, the project has benefited a wide range of musicians, from established performers to first timers, and worked across musical genres and different age groups. I’m looking forward to listening to more of the exciting talent coming out of Derry~Londonderry as a direct result of the Resonate project.'

Prize sponsorship for the Resonate Music Video Contest has been provided by the National Lottery and Henderson Music, one of Ireland's leading suppliers of musical instruments.
