Search extended for 'Oh Yeah Contenders'

Competition launches to find 'wildcard' for showcase CD

Oh Yeah Music Centre has launched a competition to find a ‘wildcard’ for their forthcoming showcase CD, part funded by the Arts Council for Northern Ireland. The compilation follows on from the 2008 Carling sponsored Oh Yeah Sessions CD which featured artist like And So I Watch You From Afar, LaFaro, Panama Kings and General Fiasco.

The new CD which is due for release later this year already features ten acts that were chosen from fifty, nominated and selected by an industry panel after lengthy discussion and a voting procedure.

While the number of nominations is an incredibly encouraging indication of the strength of Northern Ireland's music scene, Oh Yeah have said that there are still many young singer-songwriters and bands out there that are yet to be discovered. Therefore, they are extending the search to find a ‘wildcard’; a band or act with little or no profile with a great track that will be selected by a panel to be included on the new collection.

If you are a young band or singer-songwriter, and would like to be in with a chance of exclusively recording your track to be included, then send a demo to the address below, or alternatively e-mail an MP3 of the track you would like to submit to charlotte@ohyeahbelfast.com

Please include your name/name of band, contact details, telephone number, website (if you have one) and the name of song you would like to enter. Entries no later than 5pm Wednesday 4th August
