SOAK Releases 'B a noBody' on Rough Trade
Derry~Londonderry singer-songwriter releases first single after signing to the iconic record label
After emerging on the indie scene after an incredibly successful 2013, which saw her perform on RTE's Other Voices television show during the UK City of Culture celebrations, Derry~Londonderry singer-songwriter SOAK – aka Bridie Monds-Watson – has released her first single since signing with Rough Trade Records.
The iconic record label, based in London, is a firm favourite among indie fans, having released albums by The Strokes, The Libertines and Super Furry Animals, amongst others. Now 18-year-old Monds-Watson has joined its illustrious artist list with the release of new single 'B a noBody'.
The single aired on BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephen's show on September 8, and is available to download now and pre-order on 7" vinyl ahead of a November 3 release. Writing on her Facebook page in the run up to the single's broadcast, SOAK said: 'I'm so excited for tomorrow, you have no idea. Finally get to show something I've been working on for ages.'
The melodic single follows up on SOAK's Blud EP, released March 14, 2014 on former label Goodbye Records, and is evidence of the young artist's obvious songwriting talent. SOAK will now embark on a four-date tour, entitled The Nobody Tour, which arrives in Derry~Londonderry's Christ Church on November 7.
