Northern Irish soloist Melissa Hamilton performs with the world-renowned company in Derry~Londonderry

The Royal Ballet owes its existence to the vision of Dame Ninette de Valois, Irish-born dancer, choreographer and entrepreneur. The company is based at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden, and is Britain’s largest ballet company.

The Royal Ballet travelled to Derry~Londonderry to perform at the Millennium Forum on March 30 – 31 as part of the ongoing UK City of Culture 2013 celebrations.

Conducted by Derry-born Paul Murphy, and featuring Northern Irish ballerina Melissa Hamilton, audiences were treated to classic pieces from Swan Lake, Meditation from Thaïs and more. Watch video highlights below.
