Designer whose collections combine Irish Linen with Latina style

Maria Cárdenas is a third generation tailor from Latin America and a designer with the Irish Linen Guild.

Her studio is based in the Mourne Mountains, close to the border. She is renowned for her intuitive use of pure Irish Linen to create functional yet luxurious fashion garments with Latina style.

Cárdenas also works with handwoven tweed, silk and lace detailing. Producing her own designs, patterns and samples, she is an expert in garment construction, emphasising quality and finish.

On behalf of the Irish Linen Guild, she designed a garment for Miss Northern Ireland to wear in 2002. In addition, Cárdenas has extended her portfolio to elegant tableware, attracting the increasing attention of the European market.
