Want to Work With a Makeup Artist for Game of Thrones?
Emmy nominee Brian Kinney is offering someone from Northern Ireland the opportunity to assist him at a top industry event in London
Emmy nominated makeup and prosthetics artist Brian Kinney is on the hunt for an emerging talent to assist him during one of the industry's top tradeshows in 2018.
Kinney's impressive portfolio includes work on The Hunger Games franchise and acclaimed television productions such as Mad Men, Fear the Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, helping to create the iconic look of the White Walkers which has become one of the series' most recognisable elements.
Now he is giving aspiring artists in Northern Ireland the opportunity to jump start their careers by accompanying him to the International Make Up Artist Tradeshow in London, where they can also mix with some of the industry's elite names.
The lucky person will be selected from students signed up to one of Kinney's specialist makeup courses at Titanic Creative Management in Belfast, where he's already trained more than 20 artists from Northern Ireland so far this year. Naturally, competition for the spot is expected to be fierce.
'I’ve been really fortunate to work as a production crew member, as well as a teacher here in a Belfast, sharing with the tremendously talented and hardworking next generation of makeup artists training at Titanic Creative,' said Kinney. 'This Assistants programme is a great opportunity for me to give back to the incredible artists I’ve worked with at Titanic Creative and help them reach their dream career. NI have some very talented artists who deserve to break into the industry.'
On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August Kinney will be delivering his Ultimate Zombie Makeup course, sharing expert skills on creating the authentic and gruesome effects you see on screen for both those hoping to make a living doing the same or anyone simply looking to inject a touch of Hollywood realism into this Halloween.
'It’s going to be fun,' he added. 'Whether you want to do an army of zombies or makeup on yourself, we are going to cover everything from 10 minute dead makeup to hour and a half full prosthetics makeup. From paint and powder to full prosthetics, slime, ooze and teeth effects – so join me at Ultimate Zombie Weekend this August in Belfast.'
Titanic Creative Management is a multi-award winning social enterprise as well as Northern Ireland's only dedicated agency and training academy for artists working, or aspiring to work in TV, film and stage. It exists to help emerging talent break into the industry locally, nationally and internationally.
Nuala Campbell, Managing Director at Titanic Creative Studios said: 'We are really thrilled to have Brian back, he is a big hit with our students who continue to enrol in his courses year upon year and this is a testimony to his teaching!'
Matt Deery, a past pupil of Kinney's, added: 'Brian Kinney is an absolute treat! His style of educating is perfect. He has the right attitude and infectious enthusiasm to create a perfect educational environment!'
The course is sponsored by Mouldlife, which will provide materials to help support students in their learning. To find out more or book a place visit www.titaniccreative.co.uk.
