Spend St. Patrick's with Colin Glen
The outer-Belfast forest park launches its spring/summer season with a day of enchanting experiences for all the family to enjoy
The countdown is on to the Colin Glen family St. Patrick’s Day event. With Ireland's only official Gruffalo Trail and the launch of the Colin Glen fairy village, the beautiful park on the outskirts of Belfast is proving to be a popular choice for parents and their kids this year.
The fairy village is a beautifully crafted experience within the forest park and is sure to delight children who will have also had the chance to see the eight foot high Gruffalo and other characters from the famous Julia Donaldson story.
The event will also mark the beginning of the spring/summer season for the park and those attending will be able to have a go at a range of outdoor activities including the climbing wall, zip line, high and low ropes course, mountain biking, laser tag and archery. For the younger children there will be storytelling, face painters and bouncy castles.
To mark the occasion the park will be illuminated with traditional music and St. Patrick's Day entertainers, while a craft village will provide the chance to unwind from the activities. The more curious can even pay an on-site psychic a visit to see how much luck of the Irish the future holds for them.
Colin Glen has teamed up with Translink to help accomodate the large numbers expected on the day, with a Park and Ride service provided from their Black's Road facility. The shuttle service will operate from 10:45am to 4:30pm. A limited number of disabled parking spaces on site for blue badge holders and additional disabled parking will also be available.

The Colin Glen is a registered charity set at the edge of the Belfast hills. Previously a land fill site, it was formed in October 1989 to promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the natural environment around Colin Glen and to provide the local interface communities with practical projects for recreational and leisure pursuits.
