Rhythm of the Bann

An exciting new event for Coleraine in the historic Market Yard

Festival Details

Saturday, 24 June 2017

An evening featuring a wide variety of Celtic influenced, contemporary and traditional musical performances, with artists from Isle of Skye and Spain joining local musicians and dancers in an outdoor concert, hosted by Tim McGarry (BBCTV) and Dr David Hume.

The Peatbog Faeries are now regarded as one of the world's most successful Celtic-fusion bands and will fly in from the Isle of Skye for this concert. The band are well-known on the festival circuit as they have performed at all the major Celtic festivals in Europe. Having celebrating 25 years as a band in 2016, they bring Celtic Dance music into the 21st century, from traditional jigs and reels through jazz, hip hop, reggae and more. This inventive and unique approach brings a true flavour of traditional Scottish music whilst offering high octane Celtic dance music.

The Celtic music of Ireland, Scotland, and Brittany has been fused with the traditional music of Galicia by the seven-piece band Ballyrua. They are often compared to Ireland’s very own Chieftains.

Also performing is Coleraine born, singer/songwriter Hannah McPhillimy. Hannah is well known for her beguiling voice and ear for melody, paired with unguarded, reflective narratives.

A one hour dance show will start the night off performed by the Dominic Graham School of Irish Dance and the Michelle Johnston School of Highland Dance, featuring a cast of 40 dancers and a band of 4 musicians.

Please note there will be no seating for this event.

Tickets are available to purchase from Coleraine Visitor Information Centre, Coleraine Leisure Centre, Ballycastle VIC, Ballymoney VIC, Bushmills VIC and Limavady VIC.

Online booking fees will apply.
